Krystal - Kidaby *MarcusWilliams

Fan Art / Traditional Art / Drawings / Games

Here's my theory:
When RARE was redesigning Krystal from her Dinosaur Planet version to Star Fox Adventures, they drew on Kida from Disney's Atlantis the Lost Empire for inspiration.
First of all, the time period fits. Dinosaur Planet was in development in 2000, Star Fox Adventures came out in 2002, and Atlantis came out in 2001. The redesign must've occured somewhere in that time.
Krystal's redesign, like Kida, has a two piece outfit with a loincloth and exposed midriff (her Dinosaur Planet version didn't), tatoos, and her staff (which admittedly I think she had in DP) could be compared to Kida's spear.
More importantly is the situation she finds herself in: trapped in a crystal, much as Kida was infused and trapped in crystal energy. Also the Atlantean Kings of the Past greatly resemble the Krazoa sculptures.
And of course there's the personality: a strong-willed heroine with a mysterious past and a sense of spirituality.
Has anyone else noticed this?

for some reason i always thought Krystal and Kida to be very alike.
I watshed Atlantis The Lost Empire a few weeks back (about a month after i played Starfox Adventures once again) and I swear i just knew they were very similar.
I started looking for differences and similarities, and there are alot indeed.

I never heard about his situation before.
I don't think they really copy it because the plots are different and also the time events are different as well.

Though the resemblances between Krystal and Kida may be coincidence, the Krazoa bear and UNCANNY resemblance to the Kings of the Past (if you haven't seen them, here they are: [link]

So it's mostly an artistic influence, not so much on plot (though the trapping in crystal seems suspiciously similar..)
